"Princess Polka Dot Lives in Marin"                       

        Novato, January 2011:  Royalty of a sort resides in Marin County.  Royalty to children that is. 

Marilyn LoRusso has created the persona of Princess Polka Dot. 

For over 15 years Princess Polka Dot has entertained thousands of children. 

She is a children’s entertainer, with an interesting past, which has culminated into her present passion:

bringing joy and FUN into children's lives!

        Marilyn came to California from the east coast in 1980.  She has a master’s degree from

Columbia University in Speech and Language Pathology. 

She has worked as a Speech Therapist in the San Francisco Public Schools and

for the San Francisco Easter Seal Society’s Head Start Program. 

She left the Speech profession and moved to Marin.  There she met her husband, Robert,

and for 12 years they owned and operated Crystal Chalet, a beautiful crystal shop at the Village at Corte Madera. 

Marilyn worked for three years as a teacher and Area Manager for the Gymboree Play Programs. 

She also taught art, new parent/baby classes and baby sign language

at the Mill Valley Gymboree Play and Music Center.

Currently Marilyn writes a weekly column called "For the LOVE of Kids,"

for the Larkspur-Corte Madera Patch online Newsletter.

        On Halloween in 1996 Princess Polka Dot debuted at the Village at Corte Madera. 

Over a thousand children gathered for Halloween treats as Princess Polka Dot participated in the holiday spirit. 

Princess Polka Dot has been performing ever since!

She delights children with her own upbeat brand of entertainment. 

Her performances include magic, songs, games, face painting, balloon art, bubbles, parachute play and more! 

       She has volunteered in the pediatric ward at California Pacific Medical Center,

the Make A Wish Foundation, the Storks of Marin General Hospital, the New Beginnings Homeless Center

and other Marin organizations. 

She has performed at a Children’s Safety Fair sponsored by Kids One Inc., at Gymboree Play Program parties,

at many preschools, home birthday parties, weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, store openings, and company picnics.
